Coming soon, to a theatre near you: Facebook, the movie, where social networking takes over the world.

The film, which is actually titled The Social Network, tells the story of the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, now the youngest billionaire in history, and the enemies he made along the way.  Check out the trailer here.

Over the years, Zuckerberg’s enemies have been numerous, as have the lawsuits.  Most recently, a lawsuit was filed by a man claiming to own 84 percent of the social network based upon a document Zuckerberg allegedly signed.   A similar claim was made in 2007 by the founders of ConnectU who claimed to have hired Zuckerberg to do coding for their social networking site and that Zuckerberg stole their idea.   Beyond ownership issues, Facebook has faced criticism and investigation into its privacy policy, child safety, data mining and its use of advertising scripts.   In fact, Wikipedia has a page documenting the Criticisms of Facebook.

The movie’s tagline summarizes the company’s rocky, but rich, history well:  You Don’t Get to 500 Million Friends Without Making a Few Enemies.

How many friends do you think the movie will get?
