Spring is here! Although it certainly doesn’t look or feel like it up here in Minnesota. And more importantly, March Madness is here!!!! Hope you have enjoyed watching the games thus far.
Like the SUPER BOWL and the OLYMPICS, MARCH MADNESS is just one of those phrases to maybe stay away from. The NCAA owns over a dozen federal registrations for MARCH MADNESS and derivatives thereof on a plethora of goods of services. Yet I keep seeing it used in sales and promotion. Like, for instance, the snippet from the following Sunday newspaper flier covering dates during the NCAA tournament…
There are textbook sales, quilting sales, sales on candles, a discount on church services, just to name a few. None of these have really anything to do with basketball, apparel, restaurant or bar services, and related goods and services. Will the NCAA attempt to more aggressively police against these seemingly unrelated services?
